Search Console alternative for SEO alerts

This page compares Search Console and Stillindexed on price, check cadence and alerts; it is a complement, not a rival. We make one of these two, so here is the short version before anything else: everyone should use Google Search Console, and it is the better product by far for understanding Google Search. It is free, its data comes from Google, it shows queries, impressions, clicks, indexing decisions, and issues Google encountered. It can also test a live URL on demand. We charge for a narrower job: checking a chosen list on a fixed schedule and reporting when one of seven check families changes. We are not a replacement for Search Console.

What is the same

Both can surface an indexing problem such as a noindex, a robots.txt block, a server error, or a canonical difference. Search Console can compare its stored Google Index view with an on-demand Live Test. stillindexed compares scheduled observations of chosen URLs over time. The similarity ends there because the source and purpose of the information are different.

Search Console reports what Google knows and what Google Search did. stillindexed checks the URL list a customer supplied. One is first-party Search evidence. The other is a scheduled change alarm for seven named check families.

Google calls Search Console "a free service offered by Google" in its official introduction. Facts checked 2026-08-29. Google publishes no paid plan or price.

Choose Google Search Console if

  • You have a site that matters in Google Search. This applies to almost everyone reading this page. Search Console is free and Google says it helps you "understand and improve how Google sees your site".
  • You need first-party Search evidence. Search Console shows the queries that produced impressions, clicks, and positions. It shows Google's indexing status and Google-selected canonical. Our seven check families do not supply that evidence.
  • You need to diagnose what Google encountered. Search Console reports crawl and indexing problems, supports sitemap submission and indexing requests, and says it can "Receive alerts when Google encounters indexing, spam, or other issues".
  • You want to inspect a current page without buying anything. Its Live Test fetches a URL in real time when you request the test. If occasional manual inspection is enough, you do not need us.

Choose stillindexed alongside it if

  • You want a chosen URL list checked without asking each time. Starter checks up to 375 URLs every 30 minutes. Agency checks up to1250 every 15 minutes.
  • You care about a narrow, declared set of changes. The seven families are noindex, canonical, robots.txt effect, status and redirects, title and H1, TLS certificate expiry, and domain expiry.
  • You understand the slower site-level cadence. Robots.txt, sitemap, and TLS certificate checks run daily. Domain expiry runs weekly. Those checks do not run every 15 or 30 minutes.
  • You accept card first. There is no free tier and no trial. Paid plans have a 30 day no questions refund.

What we would want to know in your position

Google's Search Console product page leads with "Improve your performance on Google Search". That is the job it does better. Its default URL Inspection result is Google Index data, not the current page. Google's own documentation says, "This is not a live test." It also explains that all Google Index information for the inspected page was generated on the displayed last-crawl date.

Search Console also has a current-page path. Google documents that "Live test view data is generated when you click Test Live URL". A claim that Search Console cannot inspect the current page would be false. The actual gap is that the Live Test is requested by a person, while our page-level checks run automatically on a schedule.

Google does publish a crawl window after a request: "Crawling can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks." It does not publish a fixed separate processing delay for the Page Indexing report. A precise claim such as "the report is always three days behind" would be a guess. Google does not publish that number, and neither will we. The Page Indexing documentation says Google updates issue counts when it crawls pages with known issues and tells users to check the crawl date when a fixed issue still appears.

We have zero customers, so there is no testimonial to weigh against any of this. Search Console is free, first-party, and already part of a technical SEO's working stack. If its automatic issue alerts plus occasional Live Tests answer your question, do not buy another monitor. Pay us only if the scheduled chosen-URL checks are a separate job you actually need.

Questions

Is Google Search Console free?
Yes. Google describes Search Console as a free service. It has no published paid plan or price. stillindexed.com is card first, with no free tier and no trial.
Does Search Console show the current version of a page?
Its default URL Inspection view shows Google Index data from the last crawl and indexing attempt. Search Console also has a Live Test that fetches the URL in real time when you request it. The indexed view and the live view answer different questions.
How delayed is the Search Console Page Indexing report?
Google does not publish a fixed processing delay for the Page Indexing report, so we do not state one. Google says requested crawling can take from a few days to a few weeks, and its Page Indexing documentation tells users to check the last crawl date when a fixed issue still appears.
Does stillindexed replace Search Console?
No. Everyone responsible for a site in Google Search should use Search Console. It supplies first-party Google index and Search performance data that stillindexed.com does not provide. The narrow case for stillindexed.com is scheduled checking of a chosen URL list between Google crawls.
What does stillindexed.com check?
Seven check families: noindex, canonical, robots.txt effect, status and redirects, title and H1, TLS certificate expiry, and domain expiry. Monitored URLs run every 30 minutes on Starter and every 15 minutes on Agency. Robots.txt, sitemap, and TLS checks run daily, while domain expiry runs weekly.
How much does stillindexed.com cost?
Starter is $39 a month for 15 sites and up to 375 URLs. Agency is $79 a month for 50 sites and up to 1250 URLs. There is no free tier or trial. Paid plans have a 30 day no questions refund.

Check it yourself before believing any of this

We make one of the products being compared, so the useful thing we can offer is not another claim. These run one check against any URL, free, with no account and no email.

If a result surprises you on a client site, that is the thing this category exists to catch. Six checks when a site disappears from Google walks the same ground by hand.
