Sitebulb alternative

This page compares Sitebulb and Stillindexed on price, check cadence and alerts. Sitebulb is the better tool, and it is not close, if the job is auditing a site. It crawls everything, runs hundreds of checks and schedules recurring audits. We do one narrow thing it does not: watch a fixed list of URLs on a short cycle and send a message naming what changed. Most people who need one still want the other.

What a comparison page usually gets wrong here

The lazy version of this page says an auditing tool only runs when you sit down and run it. That is false, and Sitebulb says so on its own features page: Pro and Cloud can "run scheduled and recurring audits, so you don't need to remember to run a particular crawl". It also compares audits, so you can "find out what's different since your last audit".

We wrote that mistake about a different tool once and had to correct it. So the honest difference is not automation. It is what arrives, and when.

What arrives

A scheduled audit produces an audit. You open it, and the comparison tells you what moved since last time. That is the right shape for a monthly technical review and it is genuinely good at it. Sitebulb can also tell you when the audit exists: it emails you when an audit finishes, and Cloud supports audit-status webhooks.

What the notification says is that an audit ran. It does not name which of a page's directives changed or what the value now is, because the reading happens in the audit you open. A monitor produces a message that names the change: ours says which URL, which of seven directives, the value before and the value after, and it goes to Telegram and email within the check interval rather than at the next scheduled crawl. The gap between a deploy and the next audit is the window we exist to close, and on a monthly audit cycle that window is a month.

Choose Sitebulb if

you want to audit a whole site properly. It is a far more capable auditing tool than we are, it runs "scheduled and recurring audits", and its audit comparison will "find out what is different since your last audit". The difference is what arrives: an email or webhook saying an audit finished, on the schedule you set, rather than a message naming which directive changed. They also offer a 14 day trial with no card, and we offer none.

Choose us if the thing that worries you is the deploy that ships at 4pm on a Friday, and you would rather hear about it than find it in the next audit.

Questions

Does Sitebulb run scheduled audits?

Yes. Their features page says Pro and Cloud users can "run scheduled and recurring audits, so you don't need to remember to run a particular crawl". Anyone telling you an auditing tool cannot be automated is describing an older version of the category.

Does Sitebulb alert you when something changes?

It compares audits rather than alerting between them. Their features page describes tracking changes over time and finding "what's different since your last audit", and states nothing about a notification when a directive changes mid-cycle. The output is an audit you open, on the schedule you set.

Is stillindexed a replacement for Sitebulb?

No, and it would be a poor one. Sitebulb crawls entire sites, runs hundreds of checks and produces reports you can hand a client. We check a fixed list of URLs for seven things and tell you when one of them changes. Most people who need one still want the other.

What does Sitebulb cost?

Read from their live pricing page: Desktop Lite $18 a month, Pro $42 a month, Cloud from $125 a month. Those figures are rendered by JavaScript, so they are absent from the page source, and Sitebulb's own prose on the same page quotes Cloud "plans starting from £95/month, and going up in excess of £20k/year". They offer a 14 day free trial with "no credit card and no up-front commitment".

How many URLs can each tool handle?

Sitebulb Lite audits up to 10,000 URLs and Pro up to 500,000, per audit. We watch a chosen list rather than a whole site: 25 URLs per site, across 15 sites on Starter and 50 on Agency. Those are different jobs, not different sizes of the same job.

What does stillindexed cost?

Starter is $39 a month for 15 sites, checked every 30 minutes. Agency is $79 a month for 50 sites, checked every 15 minutes. Card first, no free tier and no trial, with a 30 day refund.

We make one of the products being compared, so the useful thing we can offer is not another claim. These run one check against any URL, free, with no account and no email.

If a result surprises you on a client site, that is the thing this category exists to catch. Six checks when a site disappears from Google walks the same ground by hand.

We make one of these two products. Every claim about Sitebulb above is quoted from sitebulb.com and dated. If one of them is wrong, their page wins and we would like to know.
